‘I do’ was not a moment but a place we’ve built on truth ...
I had the honor of photographing Paige & Cody’s Orange County wedding – it was a beautiful day! They both grew up attending the same church but since they are two years apart, there was a big enough gap that they didn’t interact all that much. When Paige graduated high school, she left for college and Cody became the Junior High Pastor at the church a few years later. When Paige moved back to Irvine after college, she became a staff member with the High School students. One night, a few of her high school girls wanted to set Cody & Paige on a date. She said, “No way! And anyways, I wouldn’t let high schoolers be the one to set me up with someone!” These same girls then went and made the same proposal to Cody and as soon as they said Paige’s name, he quickly took them up on their offer – Cody & Paige instantly hit it off and were pretty over the moon about each other.
Fast forward a few years, Cody had planned a lunch at The Montage Laguna Beach. It was a beautiful, blue sky, sunny day. They walked along the ocean bluffs and in the distance, Paige spotted a vase of flowers sitting on a picnic table overlooking the ocean. As they held hands, they made their way to the table where Cody dropped to a knee, opened a handcrafted wooden box with a custom engagement ring inside, and asked for Paige’s hand in marriage. She said yes and they made their way to the next big surprise, an engagement party with all of their closest family and friends.
On the wedding day, Paige & Cody got ready at the Kellogg House, an incredible three-story Victorian home built in 1898. It’s located at the Heritage Museum OC and has a rich history and gorgeous grounds. Paige planned a first look with her dad and then with Cody right after – it was really special to capture all of the happy tears. A custom engraved sign hung above the couple during the ceremony that said, “Sola gratia” which is Latin for by grace alone. Delovely Details designed the sign and the table numbers and made the details really pop. Paige & Cody have such an amazing group of friends as evidenced by the combined fifteen bridesmaids & groomsmen that stood by them. I am beyond grateful to know these two, to step into such a sacred and joyful space as their friend and photographer, and to document a day they’ll never forget. I pray for great favor on their marriage as they continue to fall deeper in love each day!
