One of my couple’s tied the knot at the beautiful L’Auberge Del Mar. Prior to the wedding, the bride’s parents, the couple and I meet to chat through the wedding day. While flipping through the pages of my sample wedding albums, the bride’s father shared with me that he has looked through his wedding album every week since his wedding and loves to remember how special that day was for him and his wife.
Then, he began to compare their current wedding album with the sample albums I brought with me. Like most albums that were made in the 1980s, the pages have aged and are even falling out of the centerfold. He was worried about the quality and preservation of the images. In fact, that physical album with prints glued to the pages was the one and only copy they owned.
The father of the bride appreciated the quality of my albums, the sturdy pages, and the Italian leather-bound cover. One thing that really stood out to him though was how the images were printed directly onto the pages – they would never fall out with age.
At that moment, a lightbulb went on the in bride’s mind. She wanted to surprise her parents with a brand new, restored wedding album of their own to show her gratitude for all the hard work with the wedding as well as the support and love they’ve given her throughout the years.
After the meeting, we met so I could scan their original wedding prints into high-resolution digital files, then I designed a new album spread and had it rush ordered and delivered in time for the wedding. Although the wedding was 10 days away, after looking at the numbers, it would be a tight squeeze but would arrive one day before her wedding!! Once the album arrived, Hannah surprised her parents with this very personal heirloom and they were filled with joy for her thoughtfulness.
Below, you will see a side-by-side comparison of their original wedding album and the album I designed for them. We wanted to stay with a similar color palette so Hannah chose a lux leather option called Vino. We also added a cameo cut-out of her parent’s portrait on the cover of this 10 x 10 album.
If you would like to rebuild a loved one’s album with a fine art wedding album, please contact me to discuss the details. This is a gift that will last a lifetime!
Another great gift is the Parent Album! When you purchase an album of any size 8 x 8, 10 x 10, or 12 x 12, you are automatically eligible to purchase a mini size of that album called a Parent Album. It is an exact replica of the album that you purchased, just a smaller version – it’s great to have on the go, to share at a party, family gathering or out to dinner with friends. This example below is the sage, lux leather, 12 x 12 accompanied with a Parent Album:
