If you were wondering how Ryan proposed, here’s the full story from the couple! “On Feb 7th, we went about our day as usual. A nice run/surf session to start, followed by putting our cars in the shop for some routine maintenance. Right before dinner we went to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset, which wasn’t totally out of the blue as we like to do that from time to time. For dinner, we went to one of our favorite spots in Old Town San Diego, which happens to be our first date spot. After dinner, we went to Harbor Island to let our stomachs settle from before going to dessert. It was a crystal clear night overlooking the downtown San Diego skyline. We sat on a park bench and I gave Carri her birthday gift. After that, I reached into my pocket and pulled out her promise ring (she had been asking to have that back) that I used for sizing her engagement ring. I told her “So, I’ve been meaning to give this back to you (she took it from me and proceeded to put it back on her finger). I no longer need it because this is where I’m going to ask you to be my wife.” She ripped that thing off her finger so fast when she realized that I wasn’t kidding. I got down on one knee with the skyline in the background and asked her to marry me. After some laughs and lots of tears, we went back to my car and watched videos that I had her friends and family record. After the videos, we drove off to our friend’s brewery for “dessert” and drinks. What she thought might have been a few of my roommates and friends ended up being a surprise of 50 of our closest friends and our families that wanted to make it for the big day.”

       Ryan & Carri love hiking, going to movies, finding new places to eat, spending time with friends, playing board games, shopping together, running on Sunset Cliffs and planning their next adventure! Carri knows every line from every season of Seinfeld and Friends. Ryan has likely seen every movie one the planet and can tell you exactly what happened, the plot, and if it’s worth watching (like seriously, every movie).

       When asked, “what is one thing that each of them wish to bring into their marriage that was unique from their childhood,” Ryan said: “the ability to rely on Christ, friends and family throughout all aspects of life.” Carri replied, “I want to bring the fun-loving environment I grew up in into our marriage. To create a home where everyone is always welcome.” Ryan loves how much Carri respects him and how self-sacrificing she is. Carri loves that Ryan always has her back, and is supportive of everything she does.
