There’s no doubt that James & Kate have a special place in my heart. I had the privilege of photographing their wedding a few years ago in La Jolla at The Darlington House. Then, on their one year anniversary, they jumped back into their wedding dress and suit to have me photograph their anniversary portraits at Marian Bear Park. This past year, we celebrated their two year anniversary where it all began, the beautiful shores of La Jolla!
We started shooting at the gorgeous Estancia La Jolla – I can’t help but LOVE this place. The Spanish architecture, lush greenery, and multiple levels make this property one of my absolute favorites to work at. Then we made our way to Salk Institute where you can find minimalist architecture at its finest. It’s truly a work of art – if you haven’t been, it’s a must see in San Diego. Then, a quick wardrobe change brought us to the Torrey Pines Gliderport where these two snuck in a few kisses on the edge of the Torrey Pines cliffs. We could see La Jolla Cove to the south and Del Mar State Beach to the north. The views are endless up there! With hang gliders flying overhead, the sun beams cascading across the water, and the wind gusting around them, this setting couldn’t be more romantic.
To top it all off, James & Kate celebrated their two-year “cotton” anniversary with non-other than cotton candy and one of my favorite champagnes by Francis Coppola called Sofia! I couldn’t be more grateful for these two – they continue to inspire Meg and I with their overwhelming kindness, devotion to celebrating each important milestone, and their amazing adventures. Cheers to many more anniversaries ahead you two!
